Meet Our Founder

John Federer is the founder of JLM Capital and a seasoned real estate investor with decades of experience across acquisitions, operations, and long-term portfolio management.

Over the course of his career, John has built, operated, and advised on multifamily assets through multiple market cycles, developing a disciplined investment philosophy centered on fundamentals, conservative underwriting, and durable cash flow. His approach emphasizes buying well, maintaining financial discipline, and preserving capital while positioning assets for long-term upside.

John remains closely involved in shaping the firm’s acquisition criteria and overall investment strategy, bringing a steady, experience-driven perspective to major decisions as the portfolio grows.

As founder, he provides strategic oversight to JLM Capital, ensuring the firm remains focused on long-term value creation, prudent leverage, and strong alignment with investor interests.

Johnny Federer is a multifamily real estate operator, co-founder, and author focused on building durable, high-performing apartment businesses through disciplined operations and repeatable systems.

He is the co-founder of JLM Capital and Trident Management, where he oversees acquisitions, asset management, and on-site operations across a growing multifamily portfolio. Johnny is known for his hands-on operating style—working directly with teams to improve leasing performance, resident experience, and long-term asset value.

In addition to operating, Johnny is the author of Managing Multi-family Real Estate the Right Way, where he distills real-world lessons from the field into practical frameworks for operators and investors. His work emphasizes clarity, accountability, and the idea that small operational improvements—executed consistently—can materially transform performance.

 

 

 

 

Lisa Federer is the Head of Operations Manager at Trident Management, bringing years of hands-on multifamily experience from on-site leasing and resident relations to overseeing portfolio-level performance as a Regional Manager. She’s known for building strong teams, tightening day-to-day execution, and creating the kind of operational consistency that protects NOI and elevates the resident experience.

Her core strengths include resident retention, vendor coordination, and preventative operations—ensuring work orders, turns, inspections, and capital projects stay organized, on-schedule, and accountable. Lisa is especially effective at implementing repeatable systems, improving communication standards, and maintaining a service culture that residents feel.

With a sharp eye for detail and a people-first leadership style, Lisa helps drive occupancy, improve operational efficiency, and reduce friction across leasing, maintenance, and resident services. She plays a central role in translating ownership goals into practical, trackable processes that keep properties running smoothly and performing at a high level
